Bears Madden ’09 player ratings

by Shea Johnson on Monday 9 June 2008 at 11:11 pm

Via pastapadre.com:

The Bears offense is going to be horrible and consequentially, no fun to play with in this year’s Madden. But who knew Adrian Peterson (94) was such a fantastic third-down back?

The defense looks solid. Despite injury-riddled seasons, the makers of Madden still like Mike Brown and Nathan Vasher.

and consequentially, the “horrible” offense will not keep you from playing with the bears on madden. will it?
lets just hope our bears prove madden wrong.

are they scared to give hillenmeyer a better LB rating cause of the other two more LBS briggs, urlacher those guys are AWESOME but hillenmeyer always makes plays and last yr his speed was pretty slow give the guy a break give him like a 84 at least more SPEED. for the most part watch some reps he runs with ppl easily.

No way, the anti-bear on-his-knees-for-Brett John Madden doesnt like the Bears? Typical anti-bears national media bias

First thing I do in franchise mode: Trade for Thomas Jones, start devin hester, and cut garret wolfe

You do know you can raise the attribute points of any player to where you believe they should be. Hell, those guys at Madden don’t get everything right or do they ?

Matt Forte should be at least 85

Day – I’m with you. I was, and still am, a big fan of Thomas Jones. I like Wolfe, too, though. Maybe, with the Bears passing game the way it is, keeping four running backs on the roster is a viable option!

Yeah, believe it or not,it’s really not a fun offense to play with. You find yourself turning into the same person you are when you are while watching the Bears games. Defense is a blast and you’re confident. On special teams, you pray that the cpu or whoever you are playing is dumb enough to kick to Hester. And then the offense, you just worry every time you step back to throw, and hope to not turn the ball over.
It’s also tough to decide which of our handful of #4 receivers to put as the #3 receiver! In all seriousness though, rating Rashied a 73(?) and Bennett a 79 already is a bit ridiculous.
    I’m loving the game though.

“You find yourself turning into the same person you are when you are while watching the Bears games. ”
Oops, when you are watching the Bears games I meant of course.

Yea bears passing is really no fun because Grossman turns it over. I did find that throwing to the TE’s Clark or Olsen are good weapons though. Forte is a monster as well. I just get scared he might fumble because he’s a rookie.

    Absolutely agree.

How horrible. I feel a 3-13, 4-12 season coming on. Hard to believe this franchise went to the Superbowl just 17 months ago. And now the team looks poised to battle for the #1 pick in the draft next year. Ugh…

So what’s the strategy in a Madden franchise? Mortgage the future by bundling some players and picks for a QB and a RB? The season will be brutal enough to watch. The least I can do is rid the Bears of Grossman in the virtual Chicago universe…

Matt P – I feel your frustration. As far as Madden goes, the best bet would be to sim the first full season and draft QB, OL early in the next year’s draft. I might even create a QB and make him an 87 overall just to make playing — excuse the pun — bearable!

Well, my wife surprised me last night for our anniversary with an 360 and Madden ’09. So I’ve fired Angelo and dived into management myself. Traded Rex, next years #1 pick, and Lloyd to Tennessee for Vince Young (hey, if the Pats for Moss for a 4th, and the Jets got Favre for a 4th, this isn’t unthinkable!). Scanned the free agent pool for lineman. Grim. Re-signed Brown. Signed Naeole. No much else out there. Still hunting for some WR help (Booker really CAN’T be the starter, can he?)

    “Re-signed Brown.”

As in Ruben Brown? It’s good to know that at the ripe old age of 108, he can still make a contribution…

I do like the Rex-pick-Lloyd trade for Vince, though. Now, load up on wide receivers in the draft: third to fourth round guys are always potentially diamonds in the rough. And remember, the Bears don’t need guys with speed as much as they need guys with awareness, hands, and height.

    BTW, you’re wife rocks!
