Keep It Down Now, Or Else Talented Free Agents Will Hear Us

An interesting — albeit painfully accurate –take today on Bears general manager Jerry Angelo’s free agency inactivity from columnist Matt Snyder of Fanhouse:
You’d think a team so close to the playoffs would have a bit more urgency, especially when there are so many holes — and probably front office jobs on the line.
Maybe whenever Jerry Angelo gets back from his vacation — one he’s apparently been on for years — the Bears will become players in the NFL offseason. Until then, fans are left watching many quality players go elsewhere, without even considering Chicago. You can hardly blame the players. It’s hard to consider a destination when they show nothing but indifference.
Burn!
And to add to Mr. Snyder’s beautiful rant, don’t think for a minute Angelo will have all the Bears’ many holes filled through the draft. It’s apparent at this point that is the plan, but a quick look at JA’s early-round track record will tell you his approach is all wrong.
If you can’t draft for shit, you must find other means to attain talent. And what in the world could those other means be? (cough) Free agency (cough).
Somewhere off the pacific islands, Jerry Angelo is taking sips from his mai tai while adjusting his hiked up board shorts, thinking what a wonderful world it is.
