Matt Forte Is The Second-Best Fantasy Football Option; Debate Accordingly

by Shea Johnson on Monday 18 May 2009 at 8:30 pm

NFL.com has released their updated Top 100 fantasy player rankings for 2009 and in an ever-so-slight surprise, Matt Forte is number two.

Two opinions on Forte being anointed as the second-best fantasy option: he was mightily impressive as a rookie, and despite the presence of Jay Cutler, little confidence exists in the ability of the Bears wideouts to score touchdowns.

Speaking of Cutler, the Savior of All Men came in at 50. Only two other Bears made the list; Greg Olsen (76) and Devin Hester (94).

Seriously, Jay Cutler sucks. I wonder if he’s saving you when he throws his typical pick in the fourth quarter.

I think he’ll average more on the ground and improve as a running back, but I don’t think he’ll be the 2nd best fantasy back in the NFL. Kevin Jones apparently looks much much better and they’re going to give him the ball more. They used Forte way too much last year(and I would’ve too, he was the offense), and I think he’s going to see many less touches.
