So Much For Estúpido Curse: Spanish Madden Icon Roberto Garza Is Right Guard By Default
Don’t worry, los niños–right guard Robert Garza’s starting job appears to be safe.
The Madden ’09 En Español cover athlete was expected to face heavy competition after a seemingly pedestrian performance in 2008. The only problem is… the Bears didn’t really see it fit to bring in any.
Of the only three other legitimate guards on the roster, Frank Omiyale and Josh Beekman are contending for the right to squat between Orlando Pace and Olin Kreutz on the left side, and Dan Buenning is, well, Dan Buenning.
As a former O-lineman and avid Bears fan, it’s nice to see a Bear and a hog get some glory. They couldn’t have picked a better guy than Garza to be the cover boy for Madden en Espanol. He’s a great luminary for latin players in the league, and does a lot of work in the community. Odds for Madden 10: Tony Gonzalez 4-1; Mark Sanchez 6-1.
