Drew Bennett, On The Other Hand, Is Not Flirting With Prison Time

In the case that–now may or may not be decided on Monday–Plaxico Burress isn’t available to sign with the Bears because, you know, he goes to prison, ESPN Chicago’s Jeff Dickerson throws another name in the free agent wide receiver hat: ex-Titan and Ram Drew Bennett.

Bennett’s had his share of successful campaigns in the NFL–see 2004-06 with Tennessee–but had struggled in two years with the St. Louis Rams.

Bennett’s agent, Steve Caric thinks “Drew would be excited about the possibility of playing with Jay in Chicago.”

Bennett’s one catch, four-yard season last year was better than Earl Bennett’s… um…. zero-everything season. But, then again, do you really want the worst free agent in St. Louis sports history on your team?
