The Battle Of The NFL YouTube Stars: Jarron Gilbert Vs. Keith Eloi
Washington Redskin wide receiver Keith Eloi was a guest on ESPN’s First Take this morning talking about his incredible truck jumping exploits and the attention he has received because of it.
Eloi seemed like a nice enough guy; humble when assessing his prospective NFL future, taking his new-found Internets celebrity in stride, and–considering he’s a long shot to make his squad–generally just displaying all of the characteristics of someone that you want to root for.
Inevitably, Eloi was asked if he had seen Jarron Gilbert’s pool jump video. And while he said he did, he appeared none-too-impressed, respectfully saying something to the effect of if it was four or five feet of water, as opposed to three, he might be more–enter word for awestricken.
And, apparently, this is not a lone sentiment.
There’s a debate over at Fanhouse on which feat is more impressive, and their readers overwhelmingly believe that Eloi’s jump trumps Gilbert’s–68 percent per the poll at last check.
But, I think lost in the debate is the size of the two participants: Eloi is 5-10, 190 lbs.; Gilbert is 6-6, 280 lbs. Factor into it the resistance from the water, and I think there is no doubt who had the most impressive jump.
I’m now simply waiting for the next low-profiled college football player to post a vid of himself clearing a field goal post. There’s no such thing as goaltending in football, right?
