What To Do With $17.67 Million?

Man, $17.67 million dollars. That’s like, 17 quadrillion pennies or something. You could make a money vault and swim in it like Mr. McDuck did in Duck Tales in the days of yore. OR, if you’re the Bears you can throw it all at say………..Anquan Boldin.

I realize he’s asking for more than that ($20 mil, not gonna happen), and probably looking for more than a one year deal, but why not say, “fuck it, we’re gonna try to win right here, right now and blow our wad in 2009.” When have the Bears EVER done that? Would it be so bad??? We’ve accomplished more this offseason then in the past 15 combined! The worst he says is ‘No’ and then he tears us up for 215 yards and 3 TD’s come November and I look like a genius. I guess it’s win/win for me when you look at it that way.

Rather than one season of wad-blowing, I’d like to see the Bears make more of an effort to build up the whole franchise so they are in the playoff mix every year, like the Patriots. Even if it means passing on a stud like Boldin. Invest in the offensive and defensive lines, and make sure the backups are serviceable. They’re going to have to break up this core group soon, and it would be nice not to endure three years of 4-12 football while they “rebuild” yest again.

Agreed, but I could almost stomach a sub-par season for two knowing we attempted to go Super Bowl or Bust in 2009. Again I don’t think Bears mgmt. is normally inclined to do this, but seeing what’s happened this off-season, I say keep it going.
