Fantasy Points Are Not His Forte–Oh, Zing!

by Matt Phillip on Wednesday 8 July 2009 at 7:45 pm

At first I bristled a bit when I started seeing press that Matt Forte was being overvalued/overrated in many fantasy circles. I thought he was good enough to be considered a top seven or eight back, but certainly he wouldn’t be considered a ‘hot item’. Right?? Wrong.

Welcome to the fickle world of fantasy sports rankings. Now granted, I hadn’t seen many reports before deciding to write this post but I figured a top ten ranking would be appropriate seeing as Forte had a very solid rookie campaign and would be working with a retooled O-Line and a QB who can actually throw. But sure enough there he was, directly behind one Purple Jesus Baby Daddy Adrian Peterson. (For a comparison, the Worldwide Leader has Forte ranked fourth overall)

This is a bit tough for me to swallow. Don’t get me wrong I love Mr. Forte, but do people really feel comfortable drafting him in front of LT (fuck YOU), Westbrook, and Steven Jackson?? I find it hard to believe in leagues across the country, Forte is going to be gone by the end of the first round as everyone seems to be predicting.

Hey on the other hand, can anyone name an offensive player on the Bears who has cracked the top five in any fantasy category in recent memory??? WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BEARS PRIDE!!!!!

(I’m totally taking LT again if he’s available)

True, but can you get this type of play on words anywhere else? Oh, you can? Well then… shit.
