Unfounded Rumor Of The Day: Marvin Harrison To Bears
Who is Marco Scola and what is bleacherreport.com? Why this matters is because of this, an article claiming that a source of Scola’s has inside information on an existing Bears offer to 37-year old receiver Marvin Harrison.
Speaking of Tony Dungy’s recent recommendation of Harrison, Scola wrote:
“According to an undisclosed source of mine, that encouragement from Tony Dungy may have worked on Coach Lovie Smith as the Bears have offered Marvin a contract to play for the Bears in 2009.”
Hmm, undisclosed sources are tricky. And, by tricky, I mean highly unreliable and often disappointing. But–do not fret, my friends! Scola has our speculation covered, in the comments section no less.
“@Eric:
I assure you, my source is very trusted. In fact it was the same source that told me the Bears were the front runners in the Cutler deal, merely three weeks before it actually went down.”
Okay, now we’re getting somewhere. Is this the same source that also told you about the Bears 700-year old need for a signal caller? Is your source Bobby Wade?
If the Bears have an offer on the table for Harrison’s services, the world will know in a matter of days. Because, either Harrison will sign–he needs a minimum of one training camp game and a full two weeks of practice–or decline, which will then inevitably be made public by someone.
Then, Scola will either become the newest Adam Schefter or the latest NBC on presidential election night. If any of you know what this means, I ask thee: Is Harrison going to be a Bear?

I really don’t know if Harrison is going to sign with my Bears. But it would be a great move for us. He gives us another threat and could teach our young receivers.
I agree with Antwain all the way, makes perfect sense
get him it mskes sence. because we need to win..now
Wouldn’t this have happened already if it was going to happen at all?
Marvin would not fit in Chicago. He is 37, how do think hed do when it gets cold. Remember he has a bad knee
