The Weeks To Come…..

by Sean Sullivan on Tuesday 29 September 2009 at 1:30 pm

To all you readers, say hello to Sean Sullivan who will be writing a couple of guest posts for the time being. He displayed ample Bears knowledge in his countless comments which I didn’t read. Feel free to skewer his posts with the same virility you all do with Shea’s and mine.

While the Bears have rebounded well since Green Bay and Jay Cutler has continued to validate my man crush, the next few weeks scare me a bit. I think the Detroit game is going to be closer than it should be, because the Bears always play down to their competition. Then we have to go to Cincy (where the Bengals should be 3-0 without that Kyle Orton garbage in week one and Cedric Benson is actually looking like a back that was drafted fourth overall, remember him?) and then to Atlanta.

These match ups are especially important because the Vikings and Packers are 3-0 and 2-1. Not to mention four of the last six games to close out the season are within the division, with an added bonus away game at Baltimore, maybe the best team in the league right now. So it’s looking like it’s going to take at least 11 wins to take the division and Da Bears can’t afford to get to that Cleavland game in November without at least being 4-2. So let’s please beat the crap out of Detroit this week, like you know you should. Also for any under paid & under-appreciated defensive veterans out there, keep in mind that Stafford got $41.7 million in guaranteed scrilla without ever playing a snap in the NFL, while you have been making the roster cuts year after year. Let’s welcome that over confident rook to the black and blue, cracked rib style!

Overall though the Bears look good, I still don’t know if it wouldn’t be a good idea to pick up a veteran LB like
Derrick Brooks. Granted he’s not capable of carrying the team, but would be a nice a compliment to Briggs and he obviously knows the defense. So hopefully the Bears can keep pace to make the final games relevant. There would be nothing better than spoiling Farve’s comeback, oh that and proving to ESPN that he’s not the Messiah. That was some kind of luck for Farve against the Niners, not the second coming…

Still trying to alter the 8 on my old Grossman jersey to make a 6

Thank you Ron, if you didn’t also notice I also spelled, “Cleveland” incorrectly. You got the gist of what I was saying though, right?
