So, you're saying Rex would have been better served never ever knowing Ron Turner or his inept play calling? Would you agree that the only difference between Rex and Cutler is that Cutler had proven himself while with a good offense? What if Rex had been drafted by Denver? Forgive me: I'm just curious if anyone else shares my It-Wasn't-Rex ideology.

Rex after getting hit a few times was playing scared. More scared against some teams than others. I knew that he would always play bad against a defense that had someone on the defensive line that was scary. Those were the real reasons he threw off his back foot, fumbled the centers snaps, and numerous other bad things. Lost at the time was that Ron Turner was one of the worst offensive coordinators in football. One reason Rex started over Brian the year the Bears could have gone undefeated and won the Superbowl. Ron Turners play calling is horrible to say the least and gets worse the closer the Offense gets to the endzone. Ron does a terrible job scouting teams, having the offense ready, and never takes advantage of a mismatch.

Here is a thought...FIRE RON...No something more positive Why should the GreaseBay Slackers be the only franchise with a publicly owned team? Here are DaBears Financials: Revenue $226 mil Operating Income $33.7 mil Player Expenses $134 mil Gate Receipts $55 mil
The Bears should sell BEARBONDS ;-) 100000 bonds should be offered at $1000 each. This would raise a quick $100MM generate a huge buzz throughout the sportsworld, and newsmedia, we could buy out the contracts of these lame duck coaches, and get Shanahan in here asap! Hey the bonds could be set to mature in 7yrs. and could be traded at anytime on the open market. Bondholders are randomly mailed 1 free ticket each year to a game until the bond matures. Of course other teams would try to follow our model, but we would’ve done it first! OK I’m bored but man this would be cool!

You make a good point re the offensive line. Jerry's done a horrible job of drafting OL, or, for that matter, bringing in OL.

Now I'm starting to get worried that it won't matter who the coach is - if Jerry's still calling the shots, we'll still have a bad OL and, as a result, offense.

I was always a huge Rex Grossman fan, I think his biggest problem was that he allowed the media and fans to mind F him. His departure was Bear's business as usual on offense, fill the roster with an over the hill o-line and average recievers, then find a scapegoat when it all doesn't magically work out.

The thing is that almost any QB in the NFL, including Rex could be sucessful if they have time to throw and people to throw to. Look at Orton in Denver, there is seriously no more that needs to be said.

Can we all now agree that Rex Grossman was the best quarterback in the history of football?! ... But, seriously -- what do you guys make of him now?

I agree, one person is not to blame. Since 1985, the Bears have had only one QB that made the best of bad offensive play calling.Turner does not give the QB an honest chance to be good. He does not play the game down the field. Of all the failed seasons, Ron Turner is the only common link. He must go now not at the end of the season.
