It’s Off To Vegas….
No, seriously: I should move and start a new career as a bookie, at least as far as the Bears are concerned. I have been, some would argue, unfortunately accurate in my predictions and statements about this years Bears team. I don’t even do this full-time! I can predict Cutler interceptions, foresee the Bears getting torched by Kurt Warner & Co. and now (as if it was a surprise) correctly identify the most glaring weakness of the 2009 Chicago Bears….
Well, according to yours truly….and Dan Pompei from the Tribune, it’s safety (Feel free to read the article here). In all seriousness, he we are onto something. In the past five years, there have been fifteen combinations of players at safety. That’s right, from Todd Johnson to Mike Green to Adam fucking Archuleta, the Bears just can’t seem to find a combination of players that will not get beat on seam routes can play, and stay healthy. This is close to reaching quarterback proportions. When was the last time that you could name a staple at safety?
You could argue Mike Brown. I could call you a chode. He never stayed healthy enough to be considered. In my opinion. you’d have to go all the way back to Mark Carrier and Shaun Gayle. Think about that, now pick your jaw up off the floor. That’s going all the way back to the early-to-mid 90’s. Da-AY-am! Just add this to the list of things that the Bears should address this off-season but won’t, since we won’t be participating in that draft in April.
Thanks, Jerry.

I’ll keep this in mind come draft day, when they trade their 3rd through 6th round picks for 13 7th round picks, take 12 defensive linemen (you really can never have enough) and a combination tight end/offensive guard/punter, get high marks on draft report cards for “doing a lot with not much”, then cut them all before the season starts.
“I can predict Cutler interceptions”
Haha me too… Wait until a clutch pass in the game and there it’ll be.
I’m not a fan of Pompei’s article simply because I don’t think we stand a chance of getting our dream players. We should be focused on the second round and on getting a good FS.
you need to edit your shit. and mike brown was great, i’m not a chode for thinking that. you are a dumbass, and this website as a whole sucks. go visit wcg, they have their shit together.
Yeah….they sure do. Or so they’d have you believe.
Gavin, it suddenly all makes sense.

But think of the cap room they’ll save!
Taylor Mays, probably could have gotten him late first round, package a high second round draft pick (gaines adams? he’s still playing in the league?) and a 4th and we could have had him and the Free Safety position stable for the next 8 years.
I’d rather get a safety in the draft than OG or OT which can be bought in free agency.
Please, don’t even say that here. Taylor Mays is an amazing athlete, but just as equally gifted of a football player. When will be the next time we’ll have the opportunity to acquire that type of talent … at free safety, no less? Easily the best female porn star to ever play the game.
Johnny, nice to see you over here.
As for your comments, I totally agree. Unfortunately, Jerry’s shown his bumbling idiocy when it comes to drafting offensive linemen. Personally, I could see Taylor Mays going in the mid-to-late first, but regardless: How sweet would it have been to see him in a Bears uniform for the next ten years?
Ok run this through your mind, what if the Broncos get May with our pick? Wouldn’t that just be the final slap in the face. I have to go throw up now.
That’s totally going to happen. Way to jinx it. But I think we’ve been laughed at enough this season with the Broncos not sucking like we are.
Cold…first…CHILL. Second, I never said Mike Brown wasn’t great. I was making the point that you couldn’t count on him to be there every week as he was injured so much.
mike brown fucking ruled until that improbable win over the shit-eating packers back in 2004. think he went on IR that game and it was all downhill from there.
hey man you have to answer the important question: did you place a bet on the o/u for season wins for the bears this year? i remember a lot of people, myself included, thought 8.5 was an easy over pick. glad (unlike most of my betting acquaintances) i didn’t lose money on that one.
whats your prediction for this weekend
