Brad Biggs Traded To Trib For A Couple Of Prospects … And Rick Morrissey

by Shea Johnson on Tuesday 8 December 2009 at 9:45 pm

Just days after columnist Rick Morrissey jumped ship to the Sun-Times, Brad Biggs, the Sun-Times‘ top beat writer, is headed to the Chicago Tribune. And so, that wraps up a very good three days for the Trib, who added by subtraction, added by addition, and have made the conscious decision to keep the hell away from Jay Mariotti.

I’m seriously concerned about the Sun-Times now. They have Telander, Rick Morrissey, and Mike Mulligan. Mully’s good, but then those two idiots? Yikes.

Those three will quicken the demise of the S-T.

And, don’t forget, Dan McNeil defected to the Tribune earlier this week.

you know what the sad thing is that i would bet that the sun times will come out a winner on picking up the trib garbage. shameful sign of the times that seemingly the majority of casual sports fans would rather read up on some bullshit contrived controversy than just good ol fashioned sports journalism. kind of an extension of our shallow society that values ridicule, clever insults and scandal over the usual social mores that prop up stable countries. this is only one of a few parallels that can be drawn between us and france circa 1780, right before their shit splattered all over the fan.

If Brad Biggs didn’t move over to the Trib, I would totally agree with you. However, Biggs is arguably the best Bears beat reporter out of the Chicago MSM outlets.

BTW, I like the philosophical angle you took with the second half of your comment. Unfortunately, all of it is sadly true.
