For Fun, I Would Like To Hype Up Devin Aromashodu As Much As Possible

The last post of the week; something to ponder as you await the certain couch slouch and booze binge of the weekend.

Devin Hester is likely out for Sunday’s Packers game, meaning we’ll all finally get to see some of Devin Aromashodu. I’d even go as far as to say that we might see Juaquin Iglesias, too, but everybody knows — third-round picks don’t play until year two!

If you remember it right, just prior to the regular season,  ‘shodu and Rashied Davis were awarded a place on the 53-man roster over Brandon Rideau. Davis’ two catches for 16 yards in 2009 is assuredly just the beginning of his appreciation. And, all the while, a tall, sure-handed Rideau remains lost in the scrap heap of free agency …

‘shodu, who mirrors Rideau in size, and Davis in production, had his moments in preseason and certainly can be a big-time contributor, but we’ve also said the same about Brock Forsey, Airese Currie and Mark Bradley in year’s past.

All I would like to see this Sunday, and really, the rest of the season, is an ample opportunity given to ‘shodu to either prove or disprove that he can play. The Bears are too good at not fully diagnosing potentially talented players (hello, Jamar Williams) and it’s scary. With Earl Bennett and Johnny Knox listed as starters for Sunday, but only ‘shodu, Davis and Iglesias behind them, there shouldn’t be any reason why he shouldn’t get multiple looks.

That’s it for the week for us … Did that sound as linguistically unpleasing to you as it did to me? Anyway, we’ll be here on Sunday, giving a Bears-Packers open thread a go. Make sure you come and participate. We’ll shovel your driveway and by that, I mean I’ll be in my apartment watching the game and doing other things not called hosting an open thread. Sorry, it’s kaput. And that goes for the whole shoveling your driveway thing too. But … like always, I’m certain that we’ll, at least, have some postgame shenanigans! Er … Probably.

Absolutely horrific. Now it’s just watching how low we can go.
