Some Games, It’s Not Okay To Lose Like You’ve Been Used To
Don’t you just love how the events of today’s 21-14 loss to Green Bay — at Soldier Field no less — did such an admirable job of summing up exactly all the reasons why this isn’t going to work any longer? And by this, I’m of course referring to the current direction of the Bears — coaches, personnel, scheme, everything …
First, Lovie Smith is not the worst coach ever; probably far from it. He is, however, not the right coach for a team like the Chicago Bears. We’re rough, we’re violent, we’re passionate. He’s quiet, observing, and never ruffled. It’s not a coincidence, in the least, that the Bears defense tapered off once Ron Rivera left town. In your face!
And I hate how he’s adamant about playing everything “cool”. Whether it’s on the sideline or to the media, his goal has always seemingly been to walk the path of the uber-professional, don’t-worry-we-got-this-under-control type of coach. Well, clearly, he does not have everything under control; they do not have everything under control. And they’ve been sliding for three years now.
The Bears were a fucking mess this afternoon. From the stupid penalties to the stupid decision-making, the entire game was a cute little representation of their season-long ineptitude. And to do that, in front of your home crowd while playing your biggest rival, is plain inexcusable. Right after the Greg Olsen did he-didn’t he play, when the Bears called a timeout, I looked over at my girlfriend and said, “Why wouldn’t they just challenge that? They get the break and the review.” But, of course, they were simply just wanting to do all they could to suck the fucking life out of me.
/calms down a bit, finds perspective
Three more games like this, or like in Cincy or like versus the Cards, and it may not matter that Lovie has years and money left on his contract or that Jerry Angelo brought Jay Cutler to Chicago. They could be sent away too, along with Ron Turner, for crimes committed against a fan base that expected their team to not be obsolete just three years removed from a Super Bowl appearance.

As my roommate so aptly put it yesterday, “They are just a boring team to watch.” Understatement of the year.
/Craps in paper bag and stakes out Ron Turner’s house
At least in the past we sucked and we were supposed to suck. I am not even angry at this point I am apathetic. By far the worse year of Bear football I have ever been associated with. The preseason hype was great, and the fall was greater. Stupid, Hate, world.
I know what you mean. I think we can all now officially move forward from any Super Bowl trail we were still holding on to. It’s a completely different team.
“Why wouldn’t they just challenge that? They get the break and the review.”
Because they don’t want to waste a challenge. There was a good chance that the ref’s could have made an obviously correct call at some point later in the game, and then what would Lovie do without a challenge to piss away needlessly??
Of course! It takes a certain type of logical prowess to be a
Super Bowl-winninghead coach, so I’m told. And fellas, please remember: Those two timeouts “wouldn’t have changed the outcome of the game.”

i almost want them to lose the rest of their games so lovie can be fired… but even if that happened who knows if they still would
It$ hard to $ay. I’m $till trying to figure out what the bigge$t factor in if he $tay$ or goe$ will be. But, I’m $ure Jerry Angelo will make a $ound, rea$onable deci$ion.
