Glad To See Everyone’s Being Cool About Gaines Adams Dying
Sometimes, the value of life exceeds the value of football. But only sometimes. In the case of Gaines Adams, who tragically died yesterday morning, it was definitely one of those times. So, let us all stop being oversized assholes about it.
So … no “bears fan”, regardless of Adams’ recent career performance, you were wrong in assuming he was dead four months ago when the Bears traded for him. Prick. And “Richard McKinney”, while your “the lengths someone will go to avoid having to play for the Bears is extraordinary” quip is hilarious — being a dig on the Bears and not Adams and all — it is, as you probably knew, too soon.
Even Peter King chips in. But to his credit, naming Adams’ would-be apprenticeship under Rod Marinelli as only one of the sad football things to develop from his passing alludes to the idea that there were many sad football things. And probably, even some sad real life things too!
In short, this is extremely sad. Keep your inner doucheyness in check.
