Rod Marinelli Is The Best Defensive Coordinator The Bears Knew How To Get A Hold Of

The last post of the week; something to ponder as you await the certain couch slouch and booze binge of the weekend.

It appears Rod Marinelli will be your defensive coordinator after all. Oh, and Eric Washington and Shane Day are your new defensive line and quarterbacks coaches, too. And just like that, the Chicago Bears have turned what was a painfully sloooow search into a quickly finalized one. I’m sure it had nothing to do with lack of another candidate or outside unrest.

Marinelli joins Mike Martz and Mike Tice on a “revamped staff” — a sort of dream team, if you will — of high-profiled coaching names. If I were you, I’d open up your online betting account and put money on the odds Monty Kiffin joins as water boy before the end of next week.

Washington was previously the Bears assistant defensive line coach and Day was the quality control coach with the 49ers.

So .. now that we’ve got this pesky coaching staff-filling out of the way, we can move forward to other things: namely, the Blackhawks.

Oh! And the Super Bowl, of course. It wouldn’t be self-important of me if I didn’t include my prediction: Saints 38, Colts 24.

Have an amazing weekend, everyone. We’ll be back on Monday with more obvious filler bullshit — the kind you should expect until the NFL Draft starts to take on somewhat of a shape, which normally happens about, um … mid-March.

Don’t forget that Lovie Smith’s son also got a well deserved promotion.

From what I read, Rod Marinelli last called defensive plays in 1975 for a High School. Can’t wait to see what exciting things he has in store for our ferocious D…

The cover 2 shall be back with full force for yet another long sad declining year for the bears d, which was once known as the monsters of the midway.
