What’s Left Of Trent Green’s Brain Turns Down Opportunity To Be A Backup General For The Bears Yet Again

by Adam Cumbee on Tuesday 17 August 2010 at 9:00 pm

With Caleb Hanie injuring his shoulder against the San Diego Chargers, the Chicago Bears are scrambling to find an insurance policy at quarterback. (more…)

Sweet, the Bears Signed Mike Teel!…Who?

by Decatur Staley on Saturday 24 July 2010 at 7:00 pm

I am stoked! The Bears signed quarterback Mike Teel. Let’s see, Cutler is starting and Hanie is the backup. We just drafted LeFevour, who should be our third-string QB. Mike Teel fits in where? He only survived three weeks with the Patriots this off-season, how is he worth signing? I guess competition for LeFevour to see how he performs, you know, push him to sink or swim.

But, to satisfy you readers and make sure that we keep on top of everything, we’re bringing you short and precise annotated Bears highlights every Monday and Thursday. This is our link-dumpish effort. (more…)

If He Signs, He Signs: Bears Considering Josh McCown

by Shea Johnson on Tuesday 20 April 2010 at 12:15 pm

The Bears don’t care so much for Caleb Hanie anymore. What else could explain why — after deciding two quarterbacks would be just fine last season — they now inexplicably feel the need to search for a veteran? Ohhh. Maybe, it has something to do with Jay Cutler’s astronomical interception total? Either way, they could be looking at Josh McCown, who I’m told resembles Ivan Drago from Rocky IV.

Peanut Tillman Will Take You On With One Shoulder, And Other Stuff

by Matt Phillip on Tuesday 8 September 2009 at 1:15 pm

So, as you may have heard, Peanut Tillman practiced for the first time with the team since his back surgery. It is still unknown whether or not he’ll play in Green Bay Sunday night. With four of their first five games against top level QB’s I’m pretty sure the Bears would welcome Tillman back. I’d rather not make Rodgers and Rothlisburger look like little Peyton Mannings out there, and with the 30th ranked pass defense last year … our secondary has nowhere to go but up. Right???????

More tidbits from over the long weekend after the jump. (more…)

Let The ‘Start Caleb Hanie’ Talk Begin

by Shea Johnson on Sunday 9 November 2008 at 8:55 pm

Of course, it’s ridiculous. Right? RIGHT?!

As soon as Rex Grossman’s fourth down pass to Devin Hester fell incomplete, putting an end to any hope of a Bears comeback versus Tennessee, you had to know this would be coming.

I mean, it’s no secret that when the starting quarterback is struggling, the back-up QB is the most popular man in town. Nobody knows this better than Bears fans. And when the starting QB is hurt and it’s the back-up that is struggling, well then, all of a sudden Caleb Hanie looks quite studly. (more…)
