The Last Post Of The Week: Bears OTAs Have Turned Into An Interception Fest

by Shea Johnson on Friday 4 June 2010 at 4:00 pm

The last post of the week: Really, no longer just something to ponder as you await the certain couch slouch and booze binge of the weekend, but, instead, bar conversation, only not in a bar. Let these discussions hold you over until we resurface on Monday.

Stupid F’n Articles: Some Charles Tillman Haters Take Themselves Too Seriously

by Shea Johnson on Thursday 14 January 2010 at 8:30 pm

We read through the InterWebs everyday. Some of what we read is Bears related. Some of that Bears-related material is completely, ridiculously stupid. And some of that, we’d like to share with you. This is a new feature. (more…)

Charles Tillman Insults Our Intelligence

by Matt Phillip on Tuesday 24 November 2009 at 9:30 pm

drunkSee why here. Seriously though Charles, we aren’t that stupid. We may be demanding and incredibly fickle (as my girlfriend so nicely pointed out on Sunday) but, sir, we are not dimwitted. At least not dumb enough to believe we can still make the playoffs this season. Can someone be that delusional?? Well, Charles Tillman thinks you are, or at least wants you to believe the Bears are. I, for one, do not share his optimism and I’m probably not alone. The last three games have given more than enough reason to look forward to the 2010 NFL Draft that the Bears won’t be participating in. (more…)

The Unanticipated Beastliness Of Josh Bullocks

by Shea Johnson on Wednesday 11 November 2009 at 12:15 am

Sure, he has what some might call a relatively unimpressive six career interceptions in 62 games played and whilst a member of a horrible Saints secondary, he was benched in favor of some supposedly less-horrible player, but this shouldn’t deter you from thinking he can play. In fact, Peanut Tillman is so convinced Josh Bullocks is a ‘beast’, he had to repeat it, you know, for us who don’t know. (more…)

Peanut Tillman Will Take You On With One Shoulder, And Other Stuff

by Matt Phillip on Tuesday 8 September 2009 at 1:15 pm

So, as you may have heard, Peanut Tillman practiced for the first time with the team since his back surgery. It is still unknown whether or not he’ll play in Green Bay Sunday night. With four of their first five games against top level QB’s I’m pretty sure the Bears would welcome Tillman back. I’d rather not make Rodgers and Rothlisburger look like little Peyton Mannings out there, and with the 30th ranked pass defense last year … our secondary has nowhere to go but up. Right???????

More tidbits from over the long weekend after the jump. (more…)

Charles Tillman’s Injury Campaign Gets Off To A Rousing Start

by Shea Johnson on Tuesday 28 July 2009 at 11:30 am

If there is one thing a shaky, injury-riddled secondary does not need, it is the news that their top cornerback is out indefinitely after undergoing arthroscopic back surgery. Tillman could be ok’d to play as early as the final game of the preseason, but that’s assuming he isn’t rushed back on to the field after Vasher, Bowman, and McBride inevitably ‘splode.

Charles Tillman’s Stripping Prowess Will Make Your Balls Drop

by Shea Johnson on Friday 15 May 2009 at 2:30 pm

Presenting an interesting and new statistic from Football Outsiders: the forced drop. Contrary to what it sounds like, it occurs when a receiver drops a ball without contention from the primary defender. And guess who “forced” the most drops in 2009?

“Based on film breakdowns of the 2008 season, more NFL receivers dropped passes when Tillman was the primary defender than any other cornerback in the league. Of the 113 passes thrown in his direction, 10 were dropped.” (more…)

Week 5 preview, Bears cornerbacks update, and Jamar Williams gets demoted

by Shea Johnson on Saturday 4 October 2008 at 8:15 pm

Take a good look at the photograph to your right. Isn’t it ironic, don’t you think so?

I’m sure if the Detroit Lions realized how little the fortunes of the franchise would be swayed by the four gentlemen standing here in 2004, they probably would have skipped the press conference all together.

Now, four years later and with only the two guys holding jerseys still left in the NFL, the Bears travel to the Motor City to take on the Lions in their first matchup of 2008. (more…)

Either Jeremy Trueblood’s a true jerk, or someone did really grab his package in which case, you know, I totally understand

by Shea Johnson on Tuesday 23 September 2008 at 5:29 pm

Depending on whose version of events you believe, Bucs tackle Jeremy Trueblood either acted like a dick, or was grabbed near his during overtime of the Bears 27-24 loss on Sunday.

Trueblood was visibly atop Bears defensive end Adewale Ogunleye, throwing elbows to his head, immediately after a third-down play turned up unsuccessful for the Bucs midway through OT.

The obvious infraction went uncalled, but led to a skirmish that resulted in a shoving match between Charles Tillman and Bucs wide receiver Michael Clayton. Tillman was subsenquently, and unfairly, called for unecessary roughness, giving the Bucs new life and eventually the game. (more…)
