Stupid F’n Articles: Some Charles Tillman Haters Take Themselves Too Seriously

by Shea Johnson on Thursday 14 January 2010 at 8:30 pm

We read through the InterWebs everyday. Some of what we read is Bears related. Some of that Bears-related material is completely, ridiculously stupid. And some of that, we’d like to share with you. This is a new feature. (more…)

Boogying Jay Cutler Elves With Unproportionate Domes And How The Chicago Bears Were Almost Still In The Playoff Hunt

by Shea Johnson on Thursday 24 December 2009 at 4:45 pm

The last post of the week; something to ponder as you await the certain couch slouch and booze binge of the Christmas weekend.

Being Christmas Eve, it’s only right that we stay true to the holiday spirit. That, and the fact that absolutely nothing is happening in Bears world, is why we bring you the proverbial Bears, Jib Jab, YouTube video courtesy of user, “sonofmabarker.” Except … there’s a twist. (more…)

Charles Tillman Insults Our Intelligence

by Matt Phillip on Tuesday 24 November 2009 at 9:30 pm

drunkSee why here. Seriously though Charles, we aren’t that stupid. We may be demanding and incredibly fickle (as my girlfriend so nicely pointed out on Sunday) but, sir, we are not dimwitted. At least not dumb enough to believe we can still make the playoffs this season. Can someone be that delusional?? Well, Charles Tillman thinks you are, or at least wants you to believe the Bears are. I, for one, do not share his optimism and I’m probably not alone. The last three games have given more than enough reason to look forward to the 2010 NFL Draft that the Bears won’t be participating in. (more…)

For This One, We Celebrate The Unraveling Of Dennis Green

by Shea Johnson on Friday 6 November 2009 at 3:00 pm

The last post of the week: something to ponder as you await the certain couch slouch and booze binge of this weekend.

Ah, Bears vs. Cardinals this Sunday. Not only does it hold serious implications for which direction each team is heading, it allows us to think fondly of Mr. They Are Who We Thought They Were, Dennis Green.

In case you forgot, the last time these two teams met was a doozy and was summarily cherry-topped by Green’s postgame freak out. You tell me that you wouldn’t be a little peeved to lose to a team whose quarterback commits six turnovers, but presumably is able to gloat in victory by tap-tapping half of your cheerleading squad.

Consider this your Bears-Cardinals open thread. Have a nice weekend, homers.

This Could Be Epic. In The Worst Way Possible

by Matt Phillip on Wednesday 14 October 2009 at 12:00 pm

OK, is this really happening?? Does this have any traction at all besides the ESPN rumor mill? (ZOMG!) I’m not surprised in the least that T.O. wants out of Buffalo, nor should you. I was/am very surprised about the Bears being in the mix. Given the very recent history of the Bears acquiring big-name talent (Cutler, Pace) it’s not totally shocking, but I definitely wasn’t expecting to see that yesterday. More than my surprise at the rumors that are swirling around, I don’t like the trade possibility. The Bears are humming along at 3-1 and have some decent momentum going into two very tough road games. The offense is slowly starting to click and the thought of bringing in a big name player mid-season isn’t something I’d like to see. (more…)

Bears Continue To Shamelessly Sell Out

by Matt Phillip on Wednesday 22 July 2009 at 6:00 pm

Seriously???? Is this happening yet again?!?! The Bears continue the tradition of partnering with sponsors local businesses. They have decided to plaster North Shore Hospital all over their practice jerseys. Does this burn anyone else like it does with me? I know I know, it’s an archaic viewpoint but hear me out. (more…)

Bears Eyeing An ‘Austin-To-Chicago Pipeline’

by Matt Phillip on Thursday 2 July 2009 at 1:45 pm

….or they should. Call me crazy but as recently as a few years back it seemed like every fourth player on the Bears roster was from Oklahoma (Tommie Harris, Marc Bradley, Dusty Dvoracek, J.D. Runnels and now Juaquin Iglesias). Along with those Sooners, the Bears have tapped into perennial SEC doormat Vanderbilt in the past two drafts (Earl Bennett, Chris Williams, D.J. Moore). We’re not including Cutler here because Denver had the privilege of drafting him.
Looking at what the Bears needs will be starting this year, and looking into the very near future, starting a draft pipeline via Texas makes the most sense to me. (more…)

Cutler On B-Marsh: “I Think He Can Be One Of The Greatest Ever To Play”

by Shea Johnson on Tuesday 23 June 2009 at 8:00 am

Brandon Marshall. Jay Cutler. Trade. Pat Bowlen. Will The Bears Sign A Wide Receiver? Okay, now that we’re fully SEO optimized: Jay Cutler obviously likes what Brandon Marshall is bringing to the table, but his ambitious compliment to the absurdly off-center wide receiver might be a little much. Did You Hear The One About Brandon Marshall To The Bears?

by Shea Johnson on Monday 15 June 2009 at 12:30 pm

UPDATE: Oy!

Much like every available quarterback became the subject of desperate pleas for pursuit pre-Cutler, every half-decent wide receiver lately–from free agent to disgruntled–has been suggested in some form as the solution to the Bears receiving woes.

Add Brandon Marshall to that list.

It doesn’t help that he is eerily mirroring a path once taken by a certain former teammate.

Raiders Most Likely Save Bears From Themselves

by Shea Johnson on Saturday 25 April 2009 at 10:57 pm

The Oakland Raiders’ draft has easily been the most controversial and criticized through two rounds, topped by the second-round selection of a safety not expected to be drafted until late tomorrow. Sounds ridiculous, doesn’t it? Wait until you hear that the Bears were primed to take him two picks later.

The Jay Cutler To Chicago Talk Won’t Disappear — Much Like Cutler, Himself

by Shea Johnson on Sunday 15 March 2009 at 10:55 pm

You just had to go and do it. Didn’t you, Mike Klis of the Denver Post? Just when the notion that Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler could actually have any real interest in playing in Chicago started to fade, Klis had to write the following in today’s issue:

“If Cutler is traded, his preferences figure to be the Tennessee Titans, who play in Nashville, or the Chicago Bears, his favorite childhood team who are in need of a quarterback upgrade.”

For every sour exchange between Cutler and head coach Josh McDaniels, for every tension-filled conference call, for every mention of how the Broncos tried to trade him, it appears we move one step closer to the impossible happening: Cutler being traded to the Bears.
