The Chicago Bears Should Probably Just Blow Up Their Horrible Excuse For A Playing Field

by Shea Johnson on Monday 10 May 2010 at 11:00 am

Since its inception in 1988, Soldier Field’s natural grass has come under fire for being, what many believe is, one of the worst playing surfaces in all the NFL. The Sun-Times‘ Neil Hayes is rehashing the old argument, in favor of swapping the Lake Shore “cow pasture” for artificial turf. Smashmouth football purists: I seem to remember the 1985 team did pretty well on it.

Dare The Bears Split Up This Bromance?

by Shea Johnson on Sunday 28 February 2010 at 8:20 pm

New offensive coordinator Mike Martz’ offense has no need for dynamic, pass-catching tight ends. See production of Ernie Conwell, Daniel Campbell, Sean McHugh and Vernon Davis under his tenures. Greg Olsen is pretty much a dynamic, pass-catching tight end. Uh-oh. (more…)

Goodbye, Adewale Ogunleye, Possessor Of Better Name Than “Aaron Kampman”

by Shea Johnson on Thursday 25 February 2010 at 1:45 pm

He was such a force in the NFC championship three years ago. With exception to the Cutler-for-rights-to-participate-in-the-NFL-Draft swap, he was the recompense in the Bears’ biggest trade of the last 10 years. And I so proudly learned to say his name correctly. For these reasons, I’m going to miss Adewale Ogunleye. (more…)

Thank You God, Jesus, New Orleans and Drew Breesus

by Matt Phillip on Monday 25 January 2010 at 1:15 pm

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!! Sweet, sweet schadenfreude. I could positively die of happiness right now. How perfect was that?!?!? Just ball crushing irony right there at the end of regulation. I can’t think of a more perfect failure to end Favre’s career season. Get bent Favre and leave us forever. YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Um …. So Ron Turner Was Fired

by Shea Johnson on Tuesday 5 January 2010 at 6:10 pm

No surprise there. What was surprising however, was how he drove away from Halas Hall in a golf cart, stroking his chin menacingly, assuredly conjuring up ways in which to get even. (more…)

Time To Bust Out The Christmas ‘Nog, Folks

by Gavin Tugana on Tuesday 15 December 2009 at 11:30 pm

I bet most of us felt like this fella after the Packers game.

I was a Lovie supporter after past seasons. I legitimately thought he was the right man for the job and Jerry Angelo was the problem. Now, both can go hop in a car to find a cliff as far as I’m concerned.  (more…)

Unassuming Dick Jauron Fired Unassumingly

by Shea Johnson on Tuesday 17 November 2009 at 5:00 pm

The Bills have fired their meek and under-performing head coach Dick Jauron after a 3-6 start to the season. Obviously, this means only one thing: It opens the door for Bears/Jauron v2.0! (more…)

Your “Let’s Discuss Tommie Harris’ Presumable Future” Open Thread

by Shea Johnson on Tuesday 27 October 2009 at 8:00 pm

Give a guy a four-year, $40 million dollar contract extension and you expect some things. Not part of those expectations: routinely missing one practice a week, chronic knee problems, sliding production, and an increasingly awkward relationship with the coaching staff. And now … the inevitable talk of Tommie Harris’ last days. (more…)

May Brandon Rideau Haunt You In Your Dreams

by Shea Johnson on Friday 4 September 2009 at 9:30 pm

brandon_rideau-vs-giantsThe world is coming to an end. No, not really, but the decision to once again cut Brandon Rideau goes to show what we already knew: the Bears don’t know anything about wide receivers. (more…)

Brett Favre Has Twitter, Or So It Would Seem

by Matt Phillip on Wednesday 24 June 2009 at 6:30 pm

Hey all, I’ll be taking over for Shea for a few days while he ends his life by having his girlfriend move in with him, goes to sunny CA to visit his home boys and girls.

The offseason is brutal enough for us Bears fans. We have to suffer through the “Wait ‘til next year” refrain from Cubs fans, and the perpetual ineptitude of the Bulls. (Yes the Blackhawks were good this year but now that their season is done, I’m sure that 0.5% of the city cares) As if that wasn’t enough, for the past three off-seasons we’ve had to deal with the fucking Brett Favre saga. The End Of The Devin Hester That Made You Spill Your Beer

by Shea Johnson on Tuesday 23 June 2009 at 8:30 pm

He is already the greatest kick/punt returner to ever play the game, but the one thing that is most disappointing about the Devin Hester saga is that thanks to a franchise incapable of finding a true number one wide receiver, us fans will forever be jipped of more moments like this (Warning: loud). (more…)
