Breaking: Something Has Happened To Lovie Smith And Ron Turner
By now, a decision has already been made on the respective futures of Lovie Smith, Ron Turner and the rest of the Bears coaching staff. It’s just that I’m stuck at work right now, so unfortunately, I won’t be able to update this thing. Ah, see how I did that: I’m writing from the future! (more…)

John Mullin is certain
Well, that will take a little suspense out of the upcoming offseason. CSN’s John Mullin was just on Chicago Tribune Live and it appears, according to his “pretty high-up sources”, Lovie Smith will indeed be coming back to coach the Bears next year. Sigh. Surely, more to come …
I bet most of us felt like this fella after the Packers game.
Wanted to take a quick minute to run through the various coaching changes we could be looking at after the year. Dependent on how we finish the season, we could have a completely new coaching staff. I’ll run down the possibilities of Lovie and/or Ron leaving us and hypothesize on what will most likely happen.
Midway through the fourth quarter and the Vikings have a rather comfortable
Honestly, all Bears fans would probably prefer the Super Bowl-winning, square-jawed head coach to the frustratingly stoic Lovie Smith. To watch the franchise painfully stagnate in mediocrity isn’t fun, but swapping head coaches isn’t the most important coaching change to make. Besides, Bill Cowher to the Bears isn’t likely to go down anyway.
So it hasn’t been the type of season everyone in Chicago had expected, you know, with the lofty expectations surrounding Jay Cutler and all. And yes, it is true that Cutler has particularly been error-prone while being watched by a prime time audience. But it doesn’t mean that NBC shouldn’t be allowed to put the whole mess together in one highly-edited, stylistic and dramatic three-minute presentation, does it? Oh,
I, for one, am a bit tired of Lovie “
Jay Cutler was supposed to be the Chicago Bears’ answer to the long-running quarterback deficiencies that, for so many years, presumably hindered the franchise from winning for any real extended period of time. He was their Messiah, the all-time missing link to a Super Bowl-shuffle sequel. But, now that the Bears have their franchise quarterback, they find themselves in the very unfortunate position of mediocrity. Well, at least, they’ve proven it wasn’t just the quarterback.
The 49ers have lost four in a row after starting 3-1; sounds like a great fit for our inept Bears, in what should be an exercise in futility for the season opener of Thursday night prime time games. I thought it was fitting that when Fox decided halfway through the third quarter of the game Sunday that the Bears were no longer worthy of national coverage, I agreed. Lovie’s defense probably has NFL Network wishing it could flex out of this gem.
