UPDATE: It’s Official: Bears Land Julius Peppers, Chester Taylor

by Shea Johnson on Friday 5 March 2010 at 12:38 pm

Formalities are over. The man to your left in the North Carolina jersey is now officially a member of the Chicago Bears. He brings with him 81 career sacks and the hopes of an entire nation. Oh, and aside from Julius Peppers, the Bears signed Chester Taylor, too. So, yep, not a bad day. (more…)

Bears’ Newest Game Plan: Get Every Available Free Agent

by Shea Johnson on Friday 26 February 2010 at 6:45 pm

Why do I get the feeling that, as we speak, someone in the Bears organization has barricaded themselves inside the team’s PR room and taken control of the “wire”. Whatever that means. How else do you explain the Bears’ inexplicable interest in all these high-profiled free agents? (more…)

At Least The Bears Are (Reportedly) Trying For Julius Peppers

by Shea Johnson on Thursday 25 February 2010 at 12:15 pm

Year after year, we’ve watched while the Bears did nothing in free agency. There is an old adage and I believe it goes something like: don’t give me Brandon Lloyd and tell me he’s T.J. Houshmandzadeh. Bad example, maybe. But, the Bears did something remarkable last year, something they never do — instigated a blockbuster trade. Is this reason enough to believe Julius Peppers to Chicago is going to happen? (more…)

Torry Holt And His Horribly Disfigured Finger Want In Chicago

by Shea Johnson on Friday 12 February 2010 at 10:45 pm

The last post of the week; something to ponder as you await the certain couch slouch and booze binge of the weekend.

Torry Holt wants to play in Chicago. He feels confident he can show the current “guys how to run [Martz'] system, efficiently, effectively and consistently.” On a side note, Holt’s finger is bent disgustingly, unnaturally and extra-terrestrially.

The Near-Impending, Mind-Exploding Return Of That ‘Windy City Flyer’ Fellow

by Shea Johnson on Thursday 4 February 2010 at 11:45 pm

If only because: this is the third anniversary of one of the most depressing days of my young life, the offseason thus far has been unconvincing, and the decline of the Bears since the 2006 season has been so abrupt, I’m pretty excited to hear today that Devin Hester “would love to get back in that situation with the return game.” (more…)

Unfortunately, This Is Still Illegal In Wisconsin And Minnesota

by Shea Johnson on Monday 1 February 2010 at 1:00 am

Okay … Um … Let’s see … Geez.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this. But I have a feeling the thousands of Packers and Vikings fans around the, you know, respective states of Wisconsin and Minnesota will disagree. Unless, they’re homosexual of course. Thanks to JerBear50 for the tip. (more…)

Mike Tice Is Bringing His Aquatic Lifestyle To The Chicago Bears

by Shea Johnson on Friday 15 January 2010 at 6:30 pm

The last post of the week; something to ponder as you await the certain couch slouch and booze binge of the weekend.

Look no further for a coach; the Chicago Bears finally have their man! Uh … er, for the offensive line, anyway. The always seafaring Mike Tice is leaving his assistant head coach/tight ends coach position in Jacksonville to do only half that much in Chicago. And I like! If he treats the O-line anything like he treats these four … well, maybe that isn’t the best route to go. (more…)

The Positivist Paradigm and the 2009 Chicago Bears

So, This One Time I Watched Brett Favre Play….

by Gavin Tugana on Wednesday 30 December 2009 at 12:00 am

What a game.

Everyone knows what my thought process was going into the game. I wanted the Bears to win oh so badly, but I also attempted to keep myself rooted in reality. My friend, on the other hand, was pulling (and rather staunchly) for the upset win. I attempted to bring him back to Earth, but it didn’t work. I loved the seats we had (sec. 430, 14 rows up). Looking at the stadium map, they look awful. But, as you can see from the view, it offered a great vantage point to watch the plays develop.

Bears vs. Ravens – Preview and Game Thread (UPDATE)

by Gavin Tugana on Sunday 20 December 2009 at 11:15 am

It’s really too bad that the Bears were able to finally land in Baltimore. BTW – 125 work-release inmates helped 700 other workers clear the snow from M&T Bank Stadium. Nothing says Christmas drunk like orange jumpsuits.

Moving along…

Brett Favre As The Obvious Bearer Of Good Taste

by Shea Johnson on Wednesday 25 November 2009 at 5:50 pm

If just for a minute, you would be willing to put aside your contempt for trimmed jorts, maddening indecisiveness and oh-gee-golly vernacular, you would surely find that Brett Favre is simply misunderstood. And this newfound reverence toward Favre has absolutely nothing to do with his recent comments calling Jay Cutler “damn good”. Okay, so it has everything to do with that. (more…)

Oh, Look It Here: Nathan Vasher Is Making A Comeback

by Shea Johnson on Friday 6 November 2009 at 2:00 am

Clearly, the most rewarding part of penning a post entitled “The Rise And Fall Of Nate Vasher” would be seeing resiliency rewarded. And with that: just when you thought it was safe to write off Vasher for good … yes! yes! … well, he doesn’t suck as a free safety. No, no, that’s a really good thing! (more…)
