by Shea Johnson on Friday 5 March 2010 at 1:45 pm

You just broke the Julius Peppers/Chester Taylor to Bears story (seriously, we did), what do you do? How about follow it up with news that contradicts all that we’ve been told in recent days: Greg Olsen is being traded. (more…)

Julius Peppers Is The Best Free Agent Available. Julius Peppers Is Likely Headed To Chicago. Hence, The Best Free Agent Available Is Likely Headed To Chicago.

by Shea Johnson on Friday 5 March 2010 at 3:15 am

The first day of NFL free agency is huge for the word “reports”. And, just hours in, it’s been big for the Chicago Bears, too. Players expected to interview at Halas Hall today include: Julius Peppers, Chester Taylor, and Brandon Manumaleuna. And if you don’t think the Bears are serious about Peppers, Lovie Smith flew to North Carolina just to escort the 30-year old defensive end back to Chi-town. (more…)

Brandon Marshall Will Be A Chicago Bear Or This Anonymous Source Pays For Neil Hayes’ Steak Dinner

by Shea Johnson on Wednesday 3 March 2010 at 11:00 am

“Rumors persist that [Jerry] Angelo’s comments about wide receiver not being a ”need” position are a smoke screen. It’s all about giving quarterback Jay Cutler what he needs to thrive, which is why one NFL source wagered a steak dinner on Marshall being in a Bears uniform when camp opens.” Steak dinner? Must be Sean Salisbury.

Dare The Bears Split Up This Bromance?

by Shea Johnson on Sunday 28 February 2010 at 8:20 pm

New offensive coordinator Mike Martz’ offense has no need for dynamic, pass-catching tight ends. See production of Ernie Conwell, Daniel Campbell, Sean McHugh and Vernon Davis under his tenures. Greg Olsen is pretty much a dynamic, pass-catching tight end. Uh-oh. (more…)

Matt Forte Clearly Has Both A Cell Phone And An A/S/L

by Shea Johnson on Friday 8 January 2010 at 10:50 pm

The last post of the week; something to ponder as you await the certain couch slouch and booze binge of the weekend.

This is literally the exact photograph you would find in your e-mail after spending 14 minutes talking to Matt Forte in an all-ages chat room. Of course, this is predicated on the idea that you’d be a woman and Matt Forte worked the night shift at the Golden Nugget Pancake House. (more…)

Your Face Here: Your Chicago Bears Head Coach Rumor Mill

by Shea Johnson on Sunday 27 December 2009 at 5:30 pm

John Mullin is certain his return is imminent; Bears fans: Not so much. Since the team made the conscious decision to become utterly unwatchable in Week 7, fans and media alike have speculated about the future of Lovie Smith and pondered over whom his successor might be should he get the axe. Oh, how fun! We figured the least we could do was make it easier for you to follow the craziness by introducing the Chicago Bears Head Coach Rumor Mill. (more…)

The Coaching Carousel: Jump On, Everyone!

by Gavin Tugana on Thursday 3 December 2009 at 4:45 pm

Wanted to take a quick minute to run through the various coaching changes we could be looking at after the year. Dependent on how we finish the season, we could have a completely new coaching staff. I’ll run down the possibilities of Lovie and/or Ron leaving us and hypothesize on what will most likely happen. (more…)

And One More Thing (For Now) About The Chicago Bears Coaching Gossip

by Shea Johnson on Wednesday 25 November 2009 at 8:00 pm

Another name (supposedly?) popped up today in connection to the Bears offensive coordinator position that may or may not actually be open once the season ends: Mike Martz. Seemingly moments afterward, Martz said it was all “crap”. But, the best part about the idea of replacing your management and coaching staff is the Bleacher Report-style reporting that comes out in droves, appearing to indicate that there is no end to the possible candidates. The Reality In This Bill Cowher To Chicago Bears Talk

by Shea Johnson on Tuesday 24 November 2009 at 5:00 pm

Honestly, all Bears fans would probably prefer the Super Bowl-winning, square-jawed head coach to the frustratingly stoic Lovie Smith. To watch the franchise painfully stagnate in mediocrity isn’t fun, but swapping head coaches isn’t the most important coaching change to make. Besides, Bill Cowher to the Bears isn’t likely to go down anyway. (more…)

Nathan Vasher’s Mom Loves Her Baby, Our Little Blog (Update)

by Shea Johnson on Monday 16 November 2009 at 3:20 pm

Clearly, we believe that we produce the best Chicago Bears content online. Period. We wouldn’t be doing this if we didn’t. But that doesn’t mean that we don’t read other sites or appreciate intelligent feedback from anyone with a pulse other Bears fans/sports fans in general. So try to imagine our glee when we seemingly received contact from Nathan Vasher’s mother, not once, but twice. (more…)

Unfounded Rumor Of The Day: Marvin Harrison To Bears

by Shea Johnson on Tuesday 25 August 2009 at 6:45 pm

Who is Marco Scola and what is bleacherreport.com? Why this matters is because of this, an article claiming that a source of Scola’s has inside information on an existing Bears offer to 37-year old receiver Marvin Harrison. (more…)

Did You Hear The One About Brandon Marshall To The Bears?

by Shea Johnson on Monday 15 June 2009 at 12:30 pm

UPDATE: Oy!

Much like every available quarterback became the subject of desperate pleas for pursuit pre-Cutler, every half-decent wide receiver lately–from free agent to disgruntled–has been suggested in some form as the solution to the Bears receiving woes.

Add Brandon Marshall to that list.

It doesn’t help that he is eerily mirroring a path once taken by a certain former teammate.
